“Informalidad y movilidad laboral: un análisis empírico para Argentina”.

This paper makes a contribution to the analysis of informality in Argentina, by presenting evidence on the structure on the labor market and the occupational mobility among different categories of employment, which include the possibility of informality. Additionally, there is an evaluation on the determinants of seeking for a new employment and its influence on occupational mobility. The estimation is based on microdata from the EPH for the period 1998-2006. The results show that the informal sector represents a large proportion of the labor market. Also, it is found that there has been high occupational mobility in the period. Although the evidence is not conclusive, many of the results support the idea that the observed informality in the Argentinean labor market is in mainly involuntary and related with the business cycle.
